There's something poetic about a farmer cultivating more than just land.

Ireland Boss, already established in agriculture and export, has been quietly sowing seeds in Jamaica's fertile musical soil.

While his breakout hit "V6" burst into the dancehall scene with the force of a summer storm, catching mainstream attention and even Broadway's ear, it's his latest offering that reveals deeper roots."Me, Myself and I" strips away the expected dancehall energy to reveal something more intimate - a singer-songwriter emerging from behind the producer's desk.

Having already demonstrated his ability to craft hits for others (including collaborations with dancehall royalty Spice), Ireland Boss now turns the lens inward.

The result is disarmingly honest, suggesting that beneath the commercial success lies an artist with unexplored depths.

What makes this evolution particularly intriguing is the parallel between his two vocations.

Just as farming requires patience, vision, and an understanding of cycles, his musical growth shows similar careful cultivation.

Armed with his own studio resources - tools of his trade as essential as any tractor or plow - Ireland Boss seems poised for a harvest season in his musical career.

"Me, Myself and I" feels less like a departure and more like a revelation, hinting at the kind of artist who might have been there all along, waiting for the right moment to emerge. As the track gains momentum, it carries with it the promise of more to come - suggesting that Ireland Boss's most fruitful season may still lie ahead.

In an era when music transcends borders and genres, the captivating journey of Jermaine Edwards and his Island Worship camp's single "Beautiful Day" featuring the young viral sensation Rushawn is a testament to the undeniable power of great caribbean music.

The song, initially popularized by a heartfelt rendition from the humble youth from the rural district of Tophill St. Elizabeth, has now achieved international acclaim, with an unexpected twist that has taken the world by storm.

Rushawn first captured hearts and garnered attention when his soulful rendition of Jermaine Edwards' original "Beautiful Day" went viral on Facebook and Instagram a few years back. Fast forward a few years, and the rise of TikTok breathed new life into the clip, propelling the single to new heights on an international scale.

By Fall 2022 music labels came knocking from all corners of the globe and Jermaine Edwards wisely sought the guidance of Jamaican music consultant Lloyd Laing. Under Laing's expert guidance, the duo accomplished something truly historic: a groundbreaking deal with Sony Records in Early 2023.

This landmark agreement made Rushawn the youngest Jamaican artist ever signed to a major label in music history.

Since then, "Beautiful Day" has achieved remarkable milestones, accumulating over 100 million streams on Spotify and an astounding 200+ million engagements across major streaming platforms.

The song has also garnered millions of monthly listeners, cementing their place as a 2023 global musical sensation, with arguably the biggest homegrown collaboration of the year.

However, the latest chapter in the song's journey is what truly caught the world's attention. "Beautiful Day" took center stage as the opening track at the highly anticipated Annual Apple product launch.

This unexpected spotlight not only added another layer of fame to the song but also filled the hearts of Jamaicans worldwide with an overwhelming sense of pride upon hearing it.

What many might have overlooked, amid the song's soaring success and newfound international acclaim, is its core identity: "Beautiful Day" is a gospel song.

It serves as a reminder that, regardless of genre, style, flavor, trend, or outlook, great music possesses the unique ability to resonate with people across borders, creeds, and races.

Jermaine Edwards and Rushawn's journey is a compelling example of music's remarkable capacity to bring people together, break down barriers, and inspire the world.

In an age where music knows no bounds, "Beautiful Day" stands as a beacon of hope and a testament to the enduring power of melody and message.

It has proven that Caribbean music, in its purest form, can transcend any obstacle and will continue to unite the world in harmonious celebration of people, song and sound.

The First Night of Sumfest & A Night of Hits and Misses https://louditup.com/the-first-night-of-sumfest-a-night-of-hits-and-misses-632 https://louditup.com/the-first-night-of-sumfest-a-night-of-hits-and-misses-632

Lloyd Laing, Staff Writer

Sumfest's 30th staging kicked off with a bang, celebrating this milestone with an amazing live stream and stage production. Downsound Entertainment led by Joe Bogdanovich the event's producer, showcased his flawless vision, but some artists' inconsistencies marred an otherwise exciting night.

The vibes officially started with a throwback to the golden era of the 90s in homegrown music entertainment. Tony Curtis, Mega Banton, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler, and Jigsy King all delivered stellar performances, reminding both in-person and online fans of the magic that defined that era.

The female performer of the night, Vanessa Bling, graced the stage with an effortless display of talent. She delivered a mix of singles and hit songs that resonated well with the crowd, satisfying the anticipation of her long-awaited performance.

Valiant took the stage and marked a new record for Sumfest's Homegrown streamed event with over 20,000 simultaneous viewers.

Despite facing technical difficulties with his autotune setup, Fadda Dipo Valiant managed to make the best of his inaugural performance, impressing the audience with his talent.

Teejay, while starting with high expectations, initially stumbled during his set.

However, he quickly found his groove and redeemed himself, leaving the crowd with a memorable closing to his segment.

Masicka took the energy level up several notches with a near quantum level performance that kept the audience enthralled until the early hours of the morning.

His powerful delivery left an indelible mark on patrons who stuck around for Tommy Lee's blazing early morning performance.

Despite the undeniable highlights, there were some spotty performances in between the gems.

Nevertheless, fans still experienced a solid show on the first night of Sumfest.

On the logistics front, Joe and his team deserve applause for flawlessly organizing the event.

However, it's worth noting that less can sometimes be more. By curating a more tightly-focused lineup, fans are more likely to appreciate the overall experience.

In conclusion, Sumfest's first night was filled with nostalgia, hits, and unforgettable moments.

While some artists' inconsistencies were noticeable, the event's production and overall execution were commendable.

As Sumfest continues, organizers should consider refining the lineup to ensure a consistently captivating experience for all attendees and viewers.

A Case Study: Shaggy's "Hotshot" and the RIAA Diamond certification https://louditup.com/shaggys-hotshot-and-the-riaa-diamond-certification https://louditup.com/shaggys-hotshot-and-the-riaa-diamond-certification

Shaggy, the Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist, is a household name in the music industry.

He has had a long and successful career, releasing hit after hit and establishing himself as one of the most popular and beloved artists in the world.

One of his most successful albums to date is "Hotshot" released in 2000, which sold over 21 million records and has since been certified 21 times by the RIAA.

Despite the impressive sales of "Hotshot" it seems to be a nagging fact that Shaggy has not yet received a Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), considering the fact the RIAA has recognised 21 million records sold which equals two Diamond certifications.

And the misnomer is compounded by a common misconception that an RIAA certification is automatic.

but this is not the case.

Athough the rules have changed over the course of two decades, at the time of "Hotshot" success the RIAA certifications were based on wholesale shipments of records to retailers, not on actual retail sales to consumers.

However the process of certification still requires a submission from the artist's record and/or managment label to this very day.

The lack of a Diamond certification from the RIAA for Shaggy's "Hotshot" album does not detract Shaggy's "Diamond Status" or his success and impact on the music industry.

The album's sales of 21 million copies since its release in 2000 speak for themselves and demonstrate the lasting popularity and appeal of Shaggy's music.

While a Diamond certification may be considered as a recognition of commercial success for some, it is just one way to measure the impact that an album or artist has had on the music industry.

The lack of a Diamond certification does not mean that "Hotshot" was a not a "Diamond Selling" album with 21 platinums certifications in tow.

In addition, it is possible that the actual number of retail sales to consumers could be even higher than the 21 million records sold by "Hotshot" as the RIAA certifications were based on wholesale shipments to retailers, not actual retail sales, coupled with the fact that "Hotshot" is still enjoyed and now being streamed by two entire new generations of music lovers worldwide, iit has become as undisputed mainstream classic in its own right, and that is what truly matters.

In conclusion, the lack of a Diamond certification from the RIAA for Shaggy's "Hotshot" album does not overshadow the fact that it has sold an impressive 21 million copies since its release in 2000.

The album's commercial success and impact on the music industry speaks for itself, and the lasting popularity and appeal of Shaggy's music is a testament to his talent and legacy as an artist.

Trinidad's KESHAV Debuts His "Remains" https://louditup.com/trinidads-keshav-debuts-his-remains https://louditup.com/trinidads-keshav-debuts-his-remains - Contributor

Trinidad & Tobago-based singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist KESHAV releases his debut album, Remains (Heavy Drumz), along with its music video.

Known for his soca and electronic music productions, as well as one-half of renowned UK/Caribbean production and performance duo Jus Now, KESHAV establishes himself in his own right with Remains. With a 12-track set spanning future R&B, rock, pop, synth wave, house, and drum and bass (DNB), he leads listeners on an emotional musical journey.

Before and during the pandemic, KESHAV wrote 45 songs in a period where he experienced the full circle of a relationship. “I usually collaborate with collaborators, but I had to produce, play, write, mix, and master the project myself. For 3 months, I was unable to speak, let alone sing, due to some inexplicable challenges. Finally, it came back and I finished the album. Love started with reactionary observations, but ended up leading to an inward journey."

He is best known for his work with Jus Now, his long-running collaboration with UK-based Sam Chadburn aka Sam Interface. Along with productions for Major Lazer, Bunji Garlin, Busy Signal, DJ Fresh, Stylo G, Machel Montano, Kes and Beenie Man, Jus Now has scored sync placements with Fast & Furious, Nike, Apple and Angostura Rum, and performed live at major festivals including Glastonbury, Tomorrowland,  WOMAD and Boomtown.

In his career, KESHAV has always been focused on representing Trinidad & Tobago's unique and authentic sounds. Even though Remains is a world away from the hard-charging, drum-centric soca rhythms KESHAV is known for, the project still retains an island flavor.

Khafra Rudder, son of Trinidad music icon David Rudder, directed the "Remains" video, filmed at Manzanilla Beach and Icacos Point, two of Trinidad's most stunning and remote locations. The result is a video that juxtaposes classically tropical imagery with darker, more subdued tones as palm-lined beach vistas give way to crashing waves, overcast grey skies and the great unknown.

An unsuspecting talent, Trinidad native Vernice Herreira is making big moves on Caribbean music under her moniker Trini Baby.

The 23-year-old multi-potentialite began her journey in music to heal after the passing of her older brother, who was an inspiration to her throughout her early life.

By 2018 the fledging talent would muster up the courage to release her first single, "Millenials", after dabbing with covers, reprises, and remixes on Facebook and feeling the positive feedback of her content.

Two years later, she would find her breakout single, "Retro Love", which helped to establish her presence in the Caribbean music circuit.

Now with summer 2022 heating up, it seems Trini Baby has found a potential hit. The single aptly titled "Feel The Heat", was cut on the Brazilian Funk Riddim project, and since its debut two weeks ago on the Caribbean Top40 Weekly Chart, it has steadily risen through the crowd to peak at number 6.

Jermaine Edwards & Agent Sasco Collab Is Making Headway https://louditup.com/jermaine-edwards-agent-sasco-collab-is-making-headway https://louditup.com/jermaine-edwards-agent-sasco-collab-is-making-headway - Staff Reporter

Jermaine Edwards is making headway with his latest single "Hope In My Head", which features fellow homegrown artists Agent Sasco.

The conscious Christian soldier made a bold step in June with the release of the afrobeat inspired Dancehall driven single, which for some of his diehard fans is an unexpected swing from his praise and worship homebase.

"Hope In My Head" however has been warmly received by mainstream listeners, who have helped push the single to almost 15,000 Spotify Streams, and over 200,000 views on youtube since its release three weeks ago.

Trinidad's AMI Steps Out With Purpose https://louditup.com/trinidads-ami-steps-out-with-purpose https://louditup.com/trinidads-ami-steps-out-with-purpose - Staff Reporter

The twin island nation of Trinidad & Tobago has been churning out a legion of multi talented genre fusing artists in recent times, some who are quickly earning the South Caribbean nation a reputation as a contender in the global music circuit.

One such talent to watch is the young female singer/songwriter AMI.

Describing her music as "a spiritually powered non-typical soundscape", she notes with pride that her musical drive is heavily inspired by Koffee, with a writing style indicative of Chronixx.

With a look like Joby Jay, and vocals like Koffee, AMI is an emerging talent to keep an eye on in 2022.

Though some critics have noted that AMI's sound is a close doppleganger of the Grammy winning freshman, the burgeoning act bears no bones and has no qualms with the similarities, and also hails Bob Marley, Papa San and Whitney Houston as other muses of inspiration.

Her latest single, "Purpose" is a motivational single that encourages listeners to "chase thier dreams once the higher power lights that fire in your heart."

The Story Behind Toots Hibbert's Bam Bam https://louditup.com/the-story-behind-toots-hibberts-bam-bam https://louditup.com/the-story-behind-toots-hibberts-bam-bam In 1966 Toots and the Maytals entered the Jamaica Festival Song Competition with a nyabinghi flavoured song called "Bam Bam". The music competition was introduced to promote the newly emerging Jamaican popular music, which had created ska, nyahbinghi and rock steady music at that point. Nyahbinghi roots music emerged from the Rastafarian movement as ritual music for a ceremony known as a Grounation.

Influenced by the tradition of Burru drumming, the main instruments of the ceremony were the Funde, Kette and Repeater drums accompanied with chants which were a fusion of christian hymns and traditional religious forms. Count Ossie is among the main influencers in the formation of this drumming ritual. Eventually, pioneers such as Count Ossie and Ras Michael commercialised a version of the music.

"Bam Bam", written by Toots Hibbert, was recorded with strong nyahbinghi characteristics. However, the nyabinghi drums were low in the final mix of the original recording, probably due to the production house that made the song. Read More
