GSP Stretch, the unsung genius behind the scenes, has recently introduced us to his Afro-Caribbean fusion single, "Games," and it's nothing short of breathtaking. 

With a meticulous touch, he has carefully crafted a soundscape that injects a much-needed dose of freshness into the current musical landscape.

What's truly remarkable is that this production is entirely independent, and Stretch has slyly teased a few more musical treasures hidden up his sleeve. "Games" is now available for listeners on all major platforms worldwide, and trust me, it's worth the listen.

In the quaint town of Uppsala, Sweden, a musical journey began that would ultimately touch the souls of reggae enthusiasts across the globe. This gifted artist, who would later come to be known as Ras Teo, was about to embark on a transformative odyssey that would span decades.

London collective Soothsayers release their new full-length project with New York-born, São Paulo-based producer-engineer-bassist, Victor Rice. Soothsayers Meets Victor Rice & Friends features 11 instrumental recordings, lovingly assembled between London, São Paulo and Lisbon.

The project blossomed from earlier sessions in São Paulo for Soothsayers’ vocal album ‘We Are Many’ and continued across continents and technologies during dark days and uncertain times.

Strengthened by the already powerful musical connection between Soothsayers' incredible core musicians and some of Brazil's top musicians, the result is a whole new set of uplifting and defiant instrumentals.

With Jamaican radio upended by recent broadcast regulatory changes, California based Roots Reggae Rockers, Jahmark and the Soulshakers, have dropped what can be considered a timely titled single.

"Dancehall" is a recut of the group's 1996 hit song, and maintains the soundscape of the era, with infectious lyrics that makes this single a potential radio banger in 2022.

Jahmark and the Soulshakers have been experiencing a warm revival of thier music which stretches back to the early 90's, highlighted by a feature on the soundtrack of the cult classic film, Weekend At Bernies II.

St. Vincent native superstar Skinny Fabulous and his New York based counterpart Problem Child have found a sweet spot with thier latest collab "Danger".

Released by DSM Agency in May 2022, the single has steadly found its way to the Itunes Top 100 and most recently the Dancehall Global Top40 where it peaked at #5.

Hawaiian singer/songwriter Hirie has spun herself a lush and vibrant strain of reggae that has been winning new fans since the mid-2010s.

Backed by a six-piece band, the Filipino-born, Italian-raised, Hawaii-based musician enjoyed somewhat of a breakout with her positively focused 2016 release Wandering Soul, and later built on that success with 2019's Dreamer.

From the Filipino heritage of her birthplace to the "reggaerized" native sounds of her adopted home, she felt a strong musical which influenced the bright, laid-back pop of her self-titled debut album in 2013.

With her San Diego-based backing band behind her, 2016's Wandering Soul offered a more expansive sound with horns, dub techniques, and occasional psychedelic textures. It also featured guest spots from Trevor Hall, Nahko Bear, and Nattali Rize.

She returned in 2019 with Dreamer, an album which offered a variety of styles, from easygoing reggae to ska-influenced rock and smooth pop.

Born to a large family of artistically driven individuals in the little island of Grenada, Her place of origin has not limited this talented singer/songwriter.

The Dualers are a nine-piece band from South London.

They first hit the headlines when the single “Kiss on the Lips” stormed into the UK Top 30 despite no industry or professional backing.

The follow-up single "Truly Madly" was featured in full on the Hollywood blockbuster Fools Gold, and now they have several album releases and several top 40 chart singles to their name. "Live & Direct" speaks to his passion to deliver his music "live and direct" and over the last 3 decades he has mastered that output.

The romantic affirmation "African Queenwoman" grants the listener a welcomed breather that is like a sip of lyrical cool, but Jahmark warms up back like a hot kettle with "Tallawah". After which the album feels a bit disjointed, but ends on an admirable note with the acoustica "This Love..Jah Love''.

"Vigilance" is a robust body of work with 15 tracks to the tape and rather than fuse or blend, Jahmark maintains a musical palette that is authentically traditional to the Reggae soundscape, though the album feels a bit disjointed at certain points Jahmark & The Soulshakers undersold and over delivered and managed to compensate with the depth of work and detail that continues to push the boundaries of his homegrown Reggae music.

In his second musical incarnation the artist once known as Rendeva now "Devagad", is a total rebrand; and it shows in his first effort "Affi Give Thanks".

The simple but infectious single is a song of gratitude, and though it is unapologetic in its afrobeat roots, the Jamaican artist does a fairly impressive job in keeping it homegrown with a versatile adaptation of afrobeat vocal accents, that seemed to have become a signature part of the 2022 music soundscape.

"Affi Give Thanks" has the construct to be a great product. But like many of his emerging counterparts, they fail miserably on the packaging.

Visually appealing cover artwork is still very relevant to the consumer experience, especially as a young artist delivering a song with such strong potential.

That being said, Devagad's "Affi Give Thanks" is a natural earworm that can be digested in any setting, and is a noble and unapologetic attempt at blending afrobeat's earthiness with Dancehall's lyrical landscape.

23-year-old Meime's latest release, "Puff Puff Pass", is yet another admirable attempt by the Florida native to fuse a cornucopia of soundscapes and rhythmic influences with her spicy  personality.

Her third single of the year "Puff Puff Pass" is an ode to her favorite pastime and whips up a musical cocktail flavored with drill, dancehall, and a tinge of rub-a-dub.

Though the production value leaves a bit more to be desired for more discerning ears, "Puff Puff Pass" proves that Meime has the potential to be a seasoned contender in the mainstream music circuit.
