- Justin Black,

Samory I, one of Jamaica's most distinctive modern roots voices, makes a powerful return with his latest offering, "Crown." Accompanied by a captivating lyric video directed by Yannick Reid and animated by Solasink and Leopold Matthews, this song reinforces Samory I's Rastafarian philosophies and unwavering commitment to upholding his beliefs in the face of societal pressures.

"Crown" serves as a bold renunciation of the Babylon system, while simultaneously asserting black pride and dignity. Samory I explains that the inspiration behind the song stems from the observations of daily occurrences, where people compromise their true selves, manipulate their values, and conform to gain worldly acceptance in society.

Musically, "Crown" is a hardcore rubadub track that came together swiftly during a session at Tuff Gong Studios, as described by producer Winta James. Samory I's delivery adds a menacing quality to the riddim, making the song an exceptional introduction to the overall sound of his forthcoming album.

Over the past few years, Samory I's career has been steadily ascending. It all began with his debut album, "Black Gold" (2017), a collaborative effort with Jamaican producer Rory "Stonelove" Gilligan. The album propelled Samory I into the spotlight of the reggae world, with the breakout single "Rasta Nuh Gangsta" nearing the 10 million views milestone on YouTube alone.

Since then, Samory I has made significant contributions to two Grammy-nominated reggae albums. He featured on Jesse Royal's "Royal" (2021) with their collaboration "High Tide or Low," as well as Protoje's album "Third Time's The Charm" (2022), and connected with new fans on "Love and Mercy" as part of the Gratitude Riddim compilation, produced by Winta James.

With "Crown" as a testament to his unwavering dedication to his principles, fans should eagerly anticipate the release of his upcoming album, which promises to be a signature showcase of his distinctive sound and lyrical prowess.
