Ibo Cooper, a cherished soul who touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, passed away on October 12, 2023.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and boundless compassion that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Born on January 14th 1952, Ibo was a respected Jamaican-born luminary in the world of music, renowned for his exceptional talents as a musician, composer, arranger, and musical consultant.
His melodies were the soundtrack to countless lives, and his passion for reggae and jazz enriched the global musical tapestry.
Beyond his musical prowess alongside world renowned Reggae bands Inner Circle and Third World, Ibo was an advocate for social justice and a staunch believer in the power of unity through music helping to found the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association(JARIA), a Jamaican based advocacy lobby group serving the interest of the wider Reggae community.
His tireless efforts in promoting positive change within the homegrown music community and beyond made him a beloved mentor, admired for his commitment to improving the business literacy of Jamaican music creatives.
Ibo Cooper is survived by his loving family and a vast circle of friends and admirers, all of whom will forever treasure the warmth of his smile, the kindness of his spirit, the strength of his word, and the magic of his music.
Ibo Cooper's light may have dimmed, but his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
