Despite the cold global weather and the pending d-monetization of the US dollar by BRICS, Jamaica was the place to be for winter 2022. From Hollywood celebrities to heads of government, they all flocked to Jamaica to participate in the entertainment scene, which had events for all social classes.
Some of the popular locations included French Man's Beach and Plantation Cove, which hosted some of the season's most memorable events, as well as the Kingston Harbour New Year's celebration.
Music and entertainment, although primarily recognized by the Jamaican government as part of the informal sector, has become the main attraction for tourists visiting the island in the 21st century. However, sun, sex, and marijuana still remain integral to the Jamaican experience for some.
The biggest irony was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who chose to escape Canada's harsh winter and visit Jamaica incognito, even as his own government advised its citizens against traveling to the island.
Cardi B and Offset, Tracee Ellis Ross, Burnaboy and The Family, RHOA alum Porsha Williams, and Good Times actor John Amos were among the celebrities who were spotted on the island and were warmly welcomed by Jamaicans of all backgrounds during their stay.
