Jamaican born, US-based Mighty Mystic is a global Reggae phenomenon cementing himself as one of the most sought-after acts in the industry. The music maven was born Kevin Mark Holness in the rural farming community of Goshen, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to parents Morris and Sonia Holness.
When he was nine years old, the family left Goshen and relocated to Boston in search of better resources to acquire a stable living.
Despite being separated by oceans and miles, young Kevin never relented his love for Reggae.
Instead, he held steadfast on his music passion and eventually joined forces with his equally talented brother Stephen.
The duo continued to brew a quiet storm, honing their skills and ultimately forming “Thunder Band.”
Kevin then adopted the moniker of “Mystic,” which doubled as his father’s nickname and the name of his community in Boston. With Mystic leading the vocals and Stephen strumming on the lightning sharp guitar, the brothers burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory, scoring a National hit with the track “Riding on the Clouds”.
Hot off the heels of this success, the band scored a global hit with the battle cry “Revolution”.
However, it wasn’t until 2010, that they were catapulted to household success with the release of the mega-hit album “Wake up the World”.
This initial success, coupled with the strong family ties, paved the way for a steadfast foundation segueing into a carefully curated reggae experience.
When Stephen retired, Mighty Mystic became a solo act.
Today Mighty Mystic is touted as a premier musical powerhouse on the international reggae scene and continues to consistently release quality Reggae music.
His latest full-length studio album "Giant" was released in March 2022, and the 11 track album stings with a fusion of Roots, Rock, Reggae, and a quandary of alternative sounds, which makes this his 5th studio album, a must-listen for discerning fans of Reggae and Dancehall.
The album debuted on the Reggae Billboard Charts right behind Shenseea's "ALPHA" project.
The "Giant" album has singles being embraced by terrestrial radio in Jamaica, East Coast US, Peru, Costa Rica, and the UK with "Goshen", and "Far From Jamaica" being tagged as favourites by Reggae radio heads worldwide.
Where others would feel overshadowed by having a half brother as the current Prime Minister of Jamaica, Mighty Mystic has carved out a niche with his unique brand of music that is entrenching his reputation as a "Giant" of Reggae music.
